We are required to evaluate log 48
log 48 = log (16 x 3)
⇒ log 48 = log (2^4 x 3)

use product rule to get
log 48 = log 2^4 + log 3
⇒ log 48 = 4log 2 + log 3
substitute the value of log 2 and log 3
i.e
log 48 = 4(0.30103) + 0.47712
⇒ log 48 = 1.20412 + 0.47712 = 1.68124
∴ log 48 = 1.68124
